Exterior landscaping design for a farmhouse in Val d’Orcia

The landscape in which this farmhouse is located is that of the incredible Val d’Orcia, with its green hills and unspoiled natural beauty.
To make the most of the view, a panoramic terrace was created. The structure is made from steel and finished in solid merbau wood; a third of it rests on a solid foundation well-anchored in the ground, while the rest is designed to sit unsupported in the air.

An infinity pool has been built to sit perfectly on the opposite side of the entrance. Just like the terrace, the pool also wants to establish contact with the landscape, inserting itself amongst it without creating any disturbance: its structure has been set so that it follows the natural slope of the ground. All the materials used in the construction of this space are native to the area or selected so as not to jar with its natural colours.
The pergola to the side has been furnished so that it can accommodate the house’s inhabitants for outdoor meals.

Construction of a villa from scratch

Cerveteri, Rome

The “Poggio della Meta” property is an example of design and implementation from scratch.
It’s located in the Cerveteri hills and enjoys excellent views of the sea. The client wanted a villa that brought to mind a classic Umbrian farmhouse. Traditional rural materials such as exposed stone, terracotta, and wooden beams were used. Each aspect of the property offers a unique and different view from every other.

The access to the house has a distinctive tree-lined avenue surrounded by a lush and floral garden. The jewel in the crown is the high-tech design of the utilities system, which aims to reduce energy consumption as well as ensuring warmth and comfort across the entire house; the property has already achieved an energy class of A.

Urban redevelopment

Castiglione del Lago, Perugia

Urban redevelopment of an area of the new town set next to the old centre of the town of Castiglione del Lago (Perugia). The works in this area, which was dilapidated and lacked a specific urban identity, included saving and repurposing an old disused hotel in an evident state of decay.

The project envisaged repurposing the vast surface area, generating spaces and activities more specifically designed to meet the needs of local private and communal services. The project elements’ delivery was undertaken with extreme sensitivity, applying specific architectural effects as well as lighting technology, with a particular focus on limiting energy consumption.

Farmhouse renovation in Val di Chiana

The farmhouse is situated in the lush green Val di Chiana, in a strategic position on a lovely hill that overlooks the valley below. The restoration works mainly aimed to make the space more usable while maintaining the existing structure’s architectural and rural features unaltered. Changes were made to access between spaces in order to improve usability, liveability, and the perception of space.

The distinctive square pool was made to replace the existing one, a 6mx12m rectangle. All four sides feature edges made from local stone that offer a natural “connection” between the mirrored water and the space outside.

Preliminary design for two residential towers
Nairobi, Kenya

Design for a residential tower building, rising thirty floors above an asymmetric base structure; “NUVOLA”, fully glazed and designed to host commercial and management business.

The CONCEPT stems from the shape of the Masai shield, referencing Kenya’s national coat of arms.

The shield acts as the generating core for the symmetrical and perfectly mirrored development above that “plunges” with its own mass into the irregular “cloud” of the underlying structure.
